Neighbor From Hell 1: Playing For Keeps Review...

Done with being the world's biggest pushover, Haley decides that things are going to change starting with the aggravating neighbor who has too much charm and not enough restraint. What she didn't expect was to be sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan and she won't let herself forget just what the bad boy next door is capable of.

The last thing Jason expected was for his little shy neighbor to go Rambo on him over some ruined flowers. After he decides to take her under his wing he can't help but notice that she fits very nicely in his life. Now the only thing left is to convince her that this is anything but a game.

~~~~****~~~~****~~~~
REVIEW!!
This was a re-read of the book and so much better this time around.
This is the first book in the Neighbors From Hell series where you meet Haley and Jason.  They start out as enemy neighbors and then everything changes.  But they aren’t just neighbors.  That’s right they also work together.  Haley comes from a wealthy family but is nothing like her family.  Jason eats anything and everything put in front of him just like all the other men in his family.  Can the two of them meld together in order to become something much bigger than either of them expected they could be?  What could possibly go wrong?
I have been in a reading slump because all the books I need to read (review books) are not the books I want to read.  I have been craving a reread of several series for a while including this one.  Especially since I found the Honeymoon From Hell short stories and a book I haven’t read in the series.  So I started with re-reading book one and fell in love all over again.  I absolutely LOVE the Bradford men and I look forward to continuing the series.  R. L. Mathewson creates a world full of fun and laughter for you to delve into.  She makes it easy to feel like you are a part of the store and the world you are reading about.  Everything flowed smoothly and the pace was amazing.  The characters are absolutely hilarious and well rounded.  The plot was similar to many books in the genre but written in a way that made it completely unique.
I absolutely love R. L. Mathewson’s writing style and while I have not delved into her books past the NFH series I plan to do so soon.  I look forward to continuing my series re-read with the Honeymoon From Hell books in between.  I also look forward to continuing the series with the last book that came out.  If you have not read this series then you should absolutely do so.  However it is not a series for those under 18 at all.
5 stars!
When love is put to the test, can it survive?
~~~~****~~~~****~~~~

REVIEW...

Luke and Andi are engaged but their dreams are leading them in two very different directions.  Will their love win out when new challenges are placed in front of them or will they end up lost and alone again?  Andi is heading off with rock star Travis (who is in love with her) on tour.  Luke is given a shot at a major boxing camp on the opposite side of the country.  When push comes to shove and fake photos come out it will come down to trusting one another.  Do they trust each other enough to get through the next six months apart?

So good!  I struggled to find time to read it because being summer things have gotten really busy for me.  I loved the first book, Crazy Maybe, which I read at this exact time last year.  I have been putting this book off all year because I didn’t want to find out what could possibly go wrong now.  I was not disappointed by this book.  I had a love/hate relationship with many characters in this book.  A bunch of new characters were introduced and I loved most of them.  There were two that I absolutely hated.

The plot was fun and intriguing.  The characters were well rounded and extremely well thought out.  The authors writing style was once again amazing.  I did feel like the flow could have been just a little bit more even but it did jump between months and characters so while I struggled sometimes it all made sense eventually.

If you have not read this series then what are you waiting for.  I look forward to reading more real soon.

The Darkest Sunrise Duet Cover Reveal...

Today we are sharing the incredible covers for The Darkest Sunrise Duet by Aly Martinez. Check them out below, along with the blurbs for each title. The first book in this contemporary romance duet will be released on July 13th! Be sure to follow Aly's newsletter to be notified when the books are up for pre-order.

The Darkest Sunrise (The Darkest Sunrise Duet, #1)

Coming July 13

Synopsis:

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience.

“You’re pregnant.”

“It’s a boy.”

“Your son needs a heart transplant.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Lies.

Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun.

Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky.

“He’s gone.”

For ten years, the darkness consumed me.

In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise.

“Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

----------------------------

The Brightest Sunset (The Darkest Sunrise Duet, #2)

Coming July 27th

Synopsis:

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Bullshit.

Words destroyed me.

“I’m sorry. She didn’t make it.”

“Daddy, he can’t breathe!”

“There’s nothing more we can do for your son.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Lies.

Those syllables and letters became my executioner. I told myself that, if I didn’t acknowledge the pain and the fear, they would have no power over me. But, as the years passed, the hate and the anger left behind began to control me.

Two words—that was all it took to plunge my life into darkness.

“He’s gone.”

In the end, it was four soft, silky words that gave me hope of another sunrise.

“Hi. I’m Charlotte Mills.”

Twenty-Four Potential Children of Prophecy Review...

Henina tends to irritate people. She can't help it — she's bad at shutting her mouth. So when a prophecy is made that someone will stop the war, she figures she's the worst possible choice.

Too bad.

The Fates have their sights set on her, and it will take all her cleverness and quite a lot of offending the king to foist the prophecy off on somebody else instead.

But she can do it. After all, there are a lot of potentials to choose from.

~~~~****~~~~****~~~~
REVIEW!!!
I feel like this book was rushed and lacking something.  I didn’t feel like I was getting the whole story I think.
The book follows twenty four women/kids who were basically kidnapped by the king because they had some form of star mark on/near their hands.  All because of a prophecy that says said person would end the war.  They are all taken to the war front and asked to find a way to end the war.  They eventually come up with a plan of their own to get themselves and their drafted family members home again.
The characters were interesting but lacking.  They needed more depth I think.  They plot was good but it didn’t catch my attention like I thought it would.  I thought it flowed decently and the pace wasn’t bad but it could have used some work as well.  I didn’t feel like I was involved in the book at all.  It just didn’t capture my complete attention.
So while I wasn’t captivated by the book it was a decent story.  I would recommend it because everybody has different tastes in books.  It was still worth the read in my book.
A Monster Calls Review...
The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.
But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming…
This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.
It wants the truth.
~~~~****~~~~****~~~~

REVIEW...

I had heard great things about this book earlier this year but couldn’t bring myself to read it.  I saw it at Wal-Mart one day recently and bought it, I’m glad I did however.

This book follows Connor as he struggles to cope with the inevitable death of his mother.  In coping with this he indivertibly calls the monster, but is it really a monster.  The monster comes multiple times and tells stories about people from his past walkings.  Can the monster help Connor cope with the many changes in his future in time?

This book was well worth the read and I am glad that I waited to read it once some of the hype died down.  I always find that if a book is really popular at the time that I don’t like it as much.  The artwork is just wow, it left me speechless.  The story was amazing and well told.  The characters were portrayed well and were unique.  I couldn’t put the book down any chance I had to read.

I enjoyed the book and look forward to watching the movie soon to see how differently they are portrayed.  I look forward to enjoying more books by the author one day.

Voyager Review...

Diana Gabaldon's magnificent historical saga, begun with Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, continues with this New York Times best seller. Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first. Now that Claire knows Jamie survived the slaughter at Culloden, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. She aches to travel back through time again to find the love of her life, but, in order to do that, she must leave their daughter behind. It has been 20 years since she and Jamie were forced to separate. Can she risk everything, maybe even her life, on a gamble that their love has withstood the long, rigorous test of time?

Diana Gabaldon's powerful, witty, and heroic characters lend themselves well to the rich, melodic narration accorded them by Davina Porter. Under her spell, listeners find themselves transported back through time to exciting, faraway places alive with people they would enjoy knowing.

~~~~****~~~~****~~~~
REVIEW!!!
It took me a long time to really get into this book.  It took about four months for me to read this book.
This book follows Claire as she leaves her daughter in present time Scotland and goes back in search of Jamie.  She finds Jamie and then the journey truly starts.  They are hunted because of his side job as a rum runner.  His youngest nephew gets kidnapped and now they are in search of him.  Can they find him in time to save him?  Will they fall back into place as a couple without any trouble?  Do they remember each other enough to move forward?  Will the truths of the last twenty years rip them apart for good?
I struggled through the beginning but as soon as Claire crossed back through the stones I no longer struggled.  It was just really slow starting this book.  However, it was important information that we needed to know so it isn’t something that can go away.  Again, Diana has written an amazing book.  The characters are intense and easy to fall for.  I felt like I was in the story and laughed a lot through out this book.  Diana has an amazing writing style and l look forward to continuing this amazing series.  The narrator continues her amazing telling of this series.  She is an amazing choice for a narrator.
I look forward to seeing how they portray this book in the series.  I look forward to meeting new characters as the series continues on.  If you have not read this series then you should pick it up ASAP.  But make sure you have plenty of reading time to help you through.
Exclusive Excerpt:
Noah wasn't sure whether to be furious with Lucia, or thrilled that she was right. Either way, they needed to have it out. She made love to him not two hours ago, but when she’d looked at him and told him she loved him, she’d been lying to him.
She didn't lie; she kept it to herself. Damn it. Keeping a secret like this was tantamount to lying. How the hell was he supposed to keep her safe, keep them all safe if she didn't tell him the most pertinent information of all? As much as he wanted to justify it, he couldn’t deny the bitter tang of betrayal on his tongue.
He found her in the living room, cross-legged on the couch, wearing one of his shirts and a pair of his boxer shorts. She had the sleeves rolled up to reveal her slim forearms. Head bent over, she was going through a stack of fashion magazines labeling things and putting Post-its on them. Writing things like, “Pull,” “Check with Adriana if we have it,” “Can we partner with this designer?
She was working. Completely in her zone. Well, too bad for her; Noah was about to interrupt her. He marched over to the couch, and she looked up, giving him the sweetest smile he'd ever seen. So sweet it pulled at the places in his heart he’d swear didn’t exist anymore. She looked so perfect there, sunlight streaming into the living room and splashing over her, creating soft shadows and halos all over her. She looked like an angel.
"Hi. What's up?" There was an invitation in her smile and, like the traitor it was, his dick swelled. He couldn't seem to keep his mind or his hand off of her. They needed to talk, so the big guy downstairs would just have to wait.
"I was going to ask you the same thing. Is there anything you want to talk to me about?"
Her brows furrowed even as she continued smiling up at him. "No. I mean, unless when you say talk, you mean —" She lifted a brow and her eyes danced mischievously.
Okay, so he could totally understand how even the most hardened spies could fall for the enemy. Because, right about now, he wasn't using the brain cells God gave him. He was using the other part of his brain. The one completely responsible for manning the sex train. The one that wanted to yank off her boxers and sink into her, right here in the middle of the living room, where anyone could walk in.
No. Stay strong. Besides, they’d done enough of that. After one too many close calls, the tracking devices he had everyone wear were now used to track where he and Lucia were, so the team could give them a wide berth.
Not exactly the use he had planned for them, but whatever. But they had enough privacy. And maybe if he just sank deep into her, he’d stop riding the razor’s edge and focus enough so he could ask her what he needed to ask her. If he slid the boxers off, spread her wide and stroked deep, they’d both feel better. They’d be relaxed enough to have this conversation. It was amazing the things he could come up with when he let his dick do the thinking.
He considered it. For a long moment, he considered it. She’d taste so sweet. Was she sore from earlier? Or, from this morning? He hadn't exactly been gentle. But then again, neither had she. He still had her nail marks on his shoulders. Noah grinned with purely male satisfaction. He could still feel how those scratches had stung this morning in the shower when the water hit them.
Oh shit. He did not need to think about the shower, or what they did in there.
And he probably shouldn’t think about her taste because then he’d think about what they’d just done and—no. Never mind, there it was. In amazing Technicolor and surround sound in his mind. He cleared his throat.
No. They were having this conversation now. Because he was pretty damn certain that after they had this conversation, the last thing on his mind would be sex.
"Nope. Nothing to talk about."
Her gaze searched his. And he saw pain there. He hated that he’d had a part in the pain there. Because he was pretty damn sure there was one thing she probably wanted to talk about but she didn’t trust him to be open-minded. That hurt more than anything else, that she couldn't talk to him. Didn't she understand that all he wanted was her safety and happiness?
Behind his back, Noah's fingers tightened around the tablet he held. A tablet that held the image of a ghost he’d long since buried. A ghost that was back to haunt them all. The question was, what did he want?
Noah took the picture tablet from behind his back and slapped it on the table. "Explain."
Lucia glanced at the picture and her breath caught. Her fingers flew to her lips then her gaze flickered to his. "I don’t know what to say.”
"Yesterday Matthias came into my office freaking the fuck out because Nelson came back as a false name. I lost years on my life in that split second when I was worried about you."
"Noah, I can explain."
He shook his head. "I was terrified that something happened to you. Terrified that once again I was too late. And then I called Ryan and everything was fine. So that was when I knew that either the false identity was laying groundwork for something crazier than we’re already dealing with or you were lying to me."
"I didn't lie to you, Noah."
He crossed his arms. "Oh yeah? Then what do you call it exactly? Omission? You just happened to forget that you saw your brother in your fucking office yesterday?" He kneeled down so that their gazes were level. "Or, please tell me that you didn't see him. Please fucking tell me that he came into your office but you didn't see him. Tell me that. So that I don't think that the woman I love lied to me."
About Nana Malone:
USA Today bestselling author Nana Malone's love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense novel she "borrowed" from her cousin.
It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick-butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination constantly channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin,  Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as brazen  and kick-butt as she thinks she is.
