Artemis Fowl Review

Twelve-year-old Artemis is a millionaire, a genius-and above all, a criminal mastermind. But Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEP recon Unit. These aren't the fairies of the bedtime stories-they're dangerous!

REVIEW

So I finished my re-read of Artemis Fowl the other day and it's been years so it was basically like reading it for the first time.  I had remembered small pieces of it but there were huge gaps of time that I didn't remember at all.

So Artemis is a boy who has basically kidnapped a fairy in order to get what he wants.  The Fowl's are basically pirates and do what they have to in order to what they want.  In Artemis's case he should be in school but with his father gone, his mother seems to have forgotten about him.  So he does what he has to in order to get her back.  He gets more that he bargains for when he kidnaps Captain Short.  But in the end everything works out for him.  Or does it?  Does everybody get what they want?  Does everybody survive?

This was a thrilling story and it was well written.  I hope to continue the series.  I also look forward to seeing the book turned into a movie soon.  Eoin Colfer wrote an intricate tale of mythical creatures and humans alike.  There are twists and turns all over the place and you honestly don't know how things are going to turn out for these characters at all.

Again I look forward to continuing the series.

Lord of Misrule Review...

In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans coexist in (relatively) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, the master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the forces of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn’t the only threat.

Violent black cyclone clouds hover, promising a storm of devastating proportions as student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against elements both natural and unnatural.

REVIEW

So in book four of the series we had the arrival of Amelie's father, Bishop, as well as Claire's parents.  I think Shane's father snuck in again at some point.  But now we are on book five and all hell has broken loose in Morganville.  They are all fighting to survive Bishop and whatever plagues the vampires.  Myrnan is slowly losing grip of reality along with almost all the other vampires in town.  Can they all survive the crazy town they reside in?  What happens with Eve and Michael or Claire and Shane?

I absolutely love this series and am thrilled to be rereading it so I can finish the series.  My favorite thing about this series is that each new book picks up exactly where the last left off and none of them feel like they end with a cliffhanger.  I also absolutely love the characters.

These are easy books to sit back, relax and enjoy.  Rachel did an amazing job creating this world.  I look forward to each book.  There is a very clean and logical writing style that makes reading such an intricate story that much easier.  I can't wait to start the next book and delve deeper into these characters stories.

Of Poseidon Review...

Galen, a Syrena prince, searches land for a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. It's while Emma is on vacation at the beach that she meets Galen. Although their connection is immediate and powerful, Galen's not fully convinced that Emma's the one he's been looking for. That is, until a deadly encounter with a shark proves that Emma and her Gift may be the only thing that can save his kingdom. He needs her help--no matter what the risk.

Review

So this was my second book by Anna Banks.  I picked this one up because I am a huge fan of any form of mythology which this is in a way.

This book follows Galen, a merman prince, on his search for Emma, the girl who can talk to fish.  Once they find each other they set off on a journey to figure out why she can talk to fish and learn the truly unexpected.  They also start to fall in love with each other, but it is forbidden for Galen to marry a human.  What do they find out about Emma's heritage?  Do they end up together in the long run?  Does the truth finally come out?

I truly enjoyed this book.  Anna has a clear and precise way of telling a story and making you fall in love with the characters.  These characters were fun and interesting to read about.  The writing and intent were clear and precise as well.  I look forward to continuing the series one day soon.  There was a lot going on with these characters and she didn't miss a beat.

Forever grateful to have found another amazing and inspiring author.  I look forward to reading more by her soon.
