* This is a New Adult romance novel recommended for ages 18+ due to sexual content and mature subject matter.

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.

Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He was everything Jeanella didn’t need in her life. Only Maxwell didn’t see it that way. His pursuit was relentless, making her even more determined to push him away.

Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before—dangerous, heart pounding and breathless heat. Thinking she would never see him again, she brushed it off, but when she started to run into him unexpectedly, all she could think of was how he made her feel with his sweet flirtations. Everything about Maxwell Knight screamed trouble, especially when she found out he was her new boss’s son. Now, heading to a New York fashion show, would she be able to focus on her career instead of Maxwell, who had been scheduled to attend with her? As much as she tried to forget their encounters, his good looks, smooth words and determination to win her over gravitated her toward him. The next thing she knew, her mind was utterly consumed by him. Would she be willing to ignore all the dangerous signs and jump into his arms? Or would she miss out on the chance of finding something great?

Suddenly, Max placed his hand under my elbow. With a slight tug, I was somewhat in his hold. With a light gasp and a wave of heat flushing through me again, I was lost in his eyes. He leaned in. “I had a wonderful time,” he whispered. “Thanks for being my lunch buddy.” Then he handed me the brown bag. “Lunch buddies share their feelings, stories, and even goodies.”

I radiated a huge shy smile and walked away. Needing that Rice Krispies Treat right that moment, I reached inside the bag. What I saw stunned me, and even tugged at my heart. He hadn’t broken it in half as I had expected. Instead, he had molded it into the shape of a heart.

After that, I knew…unwillingly…I was making a space for him in my heart. Thinking he would be devouring his sandwich, I looked over my shoulder just as I pushed the door to exit. His eyes were set on me intently, and I got a glimpse of his wink that made me want to dive into his arms. I liked the feeling way too much!

“She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.”

Jenna; beautiful, smart, college student….heartbroken, and these are only in the prologue!

Jenna’s story picks up after she’s graduated from college and is living with her best friend, Becky. They started living together in Jenna’s senior year of college and now live in an apartment by the beach.

One night while out for drinks, Becky is in search for a new man for Jenna, as she doesn’t approve of Luke; the man Jenna has been dating. Becky pushes Jenna to look at the men she’s spotted. Jenna doesn’t want to, and insults Becky. After Jenna insults Becky, she apologizes. Becky tells her if she’s sorry, she’ll turn around. She does. She is immediately hit with the most beautiful eyes she’s ever seen. Her heart starts racing, she loses her breath, and her skin heats to an unknown temperature. (Luke never made her feel this way) When she turns around to reface Becky, she tries to play off her reaction to the gorgeous man behind her by simply saying, “He’s cute.”

Jenna is late in waking for her interview. She bolts out of bed and makes a mad dash to get ready. Because of her rush, she has no time to eat. After her interview, she was feeling “light headed” and because she felt good about her interview; she treated herself to breakfast. As she was waiting for the man in front of her to finish his order, she looked around the café. That is when her body started churning…that is when she saw him. The nameless man from the previous night. Jenna made a slight movement causing her to bump into the man that was in front of her in line. His coffee spills on him and her, and he yells at her. He comes over to her rescue. And this is where it all begins…..

Jenna accepts the position of “Customer Relations Manager”. Different from the position she interviewed for but, it had been a dream of hers to work at Knight Magazine. Rather than going to lunch with her team, Jenna heads to Café Express for a sandwich. The nameless man from several nights before, has been named; Max. In anticipation of running into him again, her heart is pounding. Just as she is about to pay, Max steps up behind her, orders, and insists on paying for her lunch. They sit. During the course of their lunch conversation, Jenna reveals that it is her first day at Knight Fashion Magazine. She tells Max that she is the Customer Relations Manager, and that it wasn’t the position she wanted, but that she was happy to just be at the magazine. Jenna has no idea that Max has a secret.

Through out the course of Something Great, Jenna faces some tough decisions. This was a fun, witty, face paced, and well written story. I didn’t want to put it down, and I didn’t want it to end! I would recommend picking this up when you have time to just sit and read because, you won’t want to let go….not even to use the restroom!

I give Something Great a BIG 4.5 out of 5 flaming hearts!!

It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children’s chapter book, No Bullies Allowed.
