The Dead Girls' Dance Review...

Claire Danvers has her share of challenges---like being a genius in a school that favors beauty over brains, dealing with the homicidal girls in her dorm, and above all, finding out that her college town is overrun with vampires. On the up side, she has a great roommate (who tends to disappear at sunup) and a new boyfriend named Shane, whose vampire-hunting dad has called in backup: cycle punks who like the idea of killing just about anything.

Now a fraternity is throwing its annual Dead Girls' Dance and---surprise!---Claire and her equally outcast best friend, Eve, have been invited. When they find out why, all hell is going to break loose. Because this time both the living and the dead are coming out---and everybody's hungry for blood.

REVIEW!!!!

Book two of the Morganville Vampire series picks up right where the last one ended.  Claire is settling into her new life and the chaos it now includes.  In this book Claire and Eve are invited to a frat party but they aren't the only ones.  The vampires are partying as well.  Can the Glass House outcasts make it through this night in one piece?

Again, I absolutely love Rachel's writing style.  I always feel like I am a part of the story.  I feel like I live in the Glass House with these characters.  These books while being young adult books are just fun and easy reads.  They are hilarious and full of life.  The characters are vibrant and unique as well.

Glass Houses Review...

From the author of the popular Weather Warden series comes the debut of an exciting new series set in Morganville, Texas, where you would be well advised to avoid being out after dark.

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life, but they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood. Will she be able to face the town's terror or will she drown like everyone else?

~~~~****~~~~****~~~~
REVIEW!!!
Oh Morganville how I love your drama!  So I never made it all the way through the series when it originally came out so I started from the beginning again and have not been disappointed.
Claire is a sixteen year old college freshman and a bit of a genius.  However she is not only struggling while living in the dorms but also when she finds out about her new town.  So she moves off campus and into the Glass house where she meets Michael, Shane and Eve who take her in and protect her innocence.  Once she learns the town secret things go crazy but the house and her new roommates have her back.
I absolutely love the craziness that is this series.  I can't wait to re-read or read the entire series.  These characters are fun and exciting.  The plots are unique.  I love this authors writing style.  I look forward to reading more real soon.
All Your Perfects Review...
Quinn and Graham's perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.
All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?
~~~~****~~~~****~~~~

REVIEW!!!!

This book follows Quinn and Graham as they struggle with an imperfect marriage because they can't give each other what they need.  They meet when Graham's girlfriend is sleeping with Quinn's fiance and go their separate ways only to eventually end up together.  However, Quinn is pushing Graham away because she can't give him the family she thinks he wants.  Graham keeps trying but has no idea how to make her see it doesn't matter to him.

So while I am a huge fan of Colleen Hoover I wasn't thrilled with this book.  I found it extremely slow and it wasn't until the last couple chapters where we read Graham's letters to Quinn that we really understand both sides of the story.  I understand why it had to wait but I felt like it was a one sided story until the end and there were two people involved in the story.  It reminds me a little of Ugly Love (the other CoHo book I wasn't a fan of) in it's slowness.

That being said I would still highly recommend this book because I mean it's still CoHo we're talking about.  I may not have been thrilled with it she is usually a great read, I have only disliked two of them so far.  She has this way of taking a topic and formulating a great story around it.  This book happened to be about infertility and self doubt.  These are topics I personally don't connect to which is probably why it wasn't one of my favorite books.

REVIEW!!!!

Okay so after waiting, what felt like decades, for this book to finally come out I wasn't disappointed!  So in the fourth book in the series we find out how Durga becomes a goddess and how she gets a tiger.  This book picks up where that one left off and delves even deeper into how the goddess and her tiger came to be.  It shows the struggles they had and what they did to protect each other from their pasts.  It tells about how the quest came into being and how Durga rescued Ren and Kishan.  It even goes a little into Ren and Kelsey's life together but not too much.

I loved the detail she took with this book.  There was so much that needed to be included in it and Colleen did an AMAZING job in tying up all the loose ends.  I knew it would be Kishan's book but it literally blew me away.  Colleen has a way of writing about mythology where you don't truly feel like you are learning about mythology.  This is one of my all time favorite series and I look forward to reading more of her series.

While these books are kind of slow once you get into them they are well worth the read and you will be glad that they started out slow.  Once you are halfway through they pick up the pace and if you aren't paying attention you will miss something important.  I've read the entire series several times and I catch something new every time I do.

Drums of Autumn Review...

In this breathtaking novel—rich in history and adventure—The New York Times bestselling author Diana Gabaldon continues the story of Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser that began with the now-classic novel Outlander and continued in Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager. Once again spanning continents and centuries, Diana Gabaldon has created a work of sheer passion and brilliance....

It began at an ancient Scottish stone circle. There, a doorway, open to a select few, leads into the past—or the grave. Dr. Claire Randall survived the extraordinary passage, not once but twice.

Her first trip swept her into the arms of Jamie Fraser, an eighteenth-century Scot whose love for her became a legend—a tale of tragic passion that ended with her return to the present to bear his child. Her second journey, two decades later, brought them together again in the American colonies. But Claire had left someone behind in the twentieth century—their daughter, Brianna....

Now Brianna has made a disturbing discovery that sends her to the circle of stones and a terrifying leap into the unknown. In search of her mother and the father she has never met, she is risking her own future to try to change history ... and to save their lives. But as Brianna plunges into an uncharted wilderness, a heartbreaking encounter may strand her forever in the past ... or root her in the place she should be, where her heart and soul belong....

~~~~****~~~~****~~~~
REVIEW!!!!
Not gonna lie I struggled hard through this book because now we not only have Claire and Jamie but also Brianna and Roger and Young Jamie to follow.  A lot happens in this book as Claire and Jamie settle on the American continent and form Fraser's Ridge.  Then you have Brianna and Roger trying to find them.  Young Jamie finds himself on his own in this book as well.
Does Brianna find her way to her mother?  Does she finally get to meet and know her father and family?  Does Roger find Brianna again after following her into the past?  What happens with Claire and Jamie in this book?  How do young Jamie and the rest of the Fraser clan handle their new location?
Again a lot happens in this book and I did struggle keeping up with it.  However, it was still an amazing read.  I have been trying to read the books before their season hits TV and I can't wait to see how this season is going to portray everything that happened in the book.  Anyways, back to the book.  Diana is an amazing storyteller and I for one hope to be as good as her one day.  I couldn't put the book down.  She has a created a world with these characters that you never want to leave.  Now the world is growing larger and she never misses a beat.  I could never keep all the characters straight personally, I have trouble keeping them straight as I read it lol.
If you have not read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon then you are definitely missing out and should pick them up today.  You won't be disappointed, I promise.
Midnight Sun Review...
A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING BELLA THORNE!
A heartbreaking tale of love, loss and one nearly perfect summer - perfect for fans of The Fault In Our Stars and Love, Simon.
Seventeen-year-old Katie Price has a rare disease that makes exposure to even the smallest amount of sunlight deadly. Confined to her house during the day, her company is limited to her widowed father and her best (okay, only) friend. It isn't until after nightfall that Katie's world opens up, when she takes her guitar to the local train station and plays for the people coming and going.
Charlie Reed is a former all-star athlete at a crossroads in his life - and the boy Katie has secretly admired from afar for years. When he happens upon her playing guitar one night, fate intervenes and the two embark on a star-crossed romance.
As they challenge each other to chase their dreams and fall for each other under the summer night sky, Katie and Charlie form a bond strong enough to change them - and everyone around them - forever.
~~~~****~~~~****~~~~

REVIEW!!!!

Not only did I love this book but I truly enjoyed the movie as well.  So this book follows Katie as she struggles to feel human as she falls for her crush Charlie.  Katie was diagnosed with a disease that stopped her from leaving the house in the daylight at a young age.  She would watch Charlie head to school every day and one night they meet for real.  This is their love story and her end.

I felt like the book was reminiscent of Nicholas Sparks' book 'A Walk to Remember' however I enjoyed both the book and movie in this case.  With 'A Walk to Remember' I loved the movie but not so much the book.  This was my first book by Trish Cook and I look forward to reading more.  It was an easy read but that didn't take away from the story.

The book was extremely well written and I finished it relatively quickly, I think it took a day or two.  I loved Trish's writing style and truly enjoyed the story.  The characters were well formed and thought out.  The plot was fun and interesting.  I would absolutely recommend this book to anybody looking for a quick and easy read.  I look forward to reading more books by this author one day.

Exclusive Excerpt:

It’s always easier, staring at Ryan Taylor from afar. His stormy, dark eyes give a warning to strangers: stay away. Tall at ten years old, Ryan pretends that his alcoholic father doesn’t bother him. But he does. I see it in his navy-blue eyes when his dad returns from sea.

It’s summer. The heat from the sun on my face makes me feel warm, almost happy. I watch as Ryan stalks toward me, quietly, as I lie in the middle of the mustard field. The scent of sea in my nose. I pray this pain goes away—the pain in my heart from the riptide that has torn through the Young family this morning. We knew it was coming. I should maybe feel relief that my mother is no longer in pain, but I want to retreat back to before she had cancer. When there wasn’t a cluster of pills on the counter. When it didn’t smell like a hospital on 4578 Opal Street at the top of the hill with the view of the ocean.

“Hey,” he says, breathless.

“You been running?” I peer up at him through squinty eyes.

“Yeah. From my house. When I heard the news.” Ryan sits down next to me and then lies down, placing his hands behind his head, peering up at the same summer sky.

“You okay?” I hear him whisper.
I don’t know.
I feel sick, and numb, too, I guess.
“What are you supposed to feel when your parent dies, Ryan?” The birds chirp.

Crickets sing.
I wait. Praying that his answer will deliver some peace.
Life is going on at a pace I wasn’t prepared for. Moving

forward. It has picked up and left my mother in the past. And I’m paralyzed.

“I don’t know.” He’s quiet for a moment. “I guess it’s supposed to feel like how ugly looks maybe.”

I laugh because I picture Ryan as ugly, and I just can’t with his skin that looks like the color of caramel, eyes the color of the Atlantic, short dark brown hair, and a long, lean body that is always ready, willing, and able.

I want to tell him I’m sorry his mother left. Before Ryan could walk, his father had just come home from a two-week sea trip, and his mother bent down, kissed him good-bye, and never came back. According to Ryan.

I suppose he knows what ugly feels like. I suppose he knows what it’s like to have his life turned upside down, twisted, knotted, nasty.

“People are shitty,” I say.
“Yeah. People are shitty.”
We both stare up at the bright blue sky and look for our

mothers. We see the sadness, life’s imperfections as the clouds float by. We take heed in the fact that life would just be easier if we didn’t get so attached, if we didn’t become loved, if we didn’t give love. Because, in the end, this ache in our hearts wouldn’t hurt so bad.

I feel Ryan’s eyes on me, but I continue to stare at the deformed elephant that drifts past me.

“One day, this all won’t hurt so much, Violet,” he whispers. And, when he calls me this, the stinging of my eyes begins.

REVIEW!!!!

I LOVE Meghan Quinn and this book was no exception!

So in this book Noely is asked to promote a new restaurant/dating service as part of her news show.  She dates three guys and after several weeks she has to make a choice.  Does she go with the suit, the rebel or the jock?  Each guy was different in their own way.  The quirks of these characters were so much fun to read.

So needless to say it has been several months since I read this book but I remember most of the important details.  I laughed a lot over this book because I mean it's Meghan Quinn here and I haven't read anything by her that isn't absolutely hilarious.  She writes characters that are so realistic that it's scary.  These characters were no exception.  I felt like I was a part of this story.  The writing style is unique and easy to follow.

Needless to say I look forward to continuing this series.  If you are looking for a unique, romantic comedy book then this is a good place to start.

5 blind stars!

“I know that you may have been on dates since you met me.  But none of them distracted you from whatever’s simmering between us. You want to turn back the clock to the day I asked you out and follow through on it.”

“I don’t.” Her words were the verbal equivalent of a foot stamp. Then, softer, as if she didn’t mean to speak it out loud at all, Delaney said, “We can’t.”

In response, Kellan framed her face with his hands, tilted her head back more, and kissed her.

Not the light, polite, introduction kiss they’d shared the first time. Delaney had obviously pushed him past that step. Kellan kissed as if he needed her to know just how badly he wanted her. His lips worked across her mouth, moving and kneading. Kellan nipped at her wide bottom lip. It felt like punishment for her making him wait so long

It also felt like a reward for waiting so long, and she rewarded him with a tiny moan.

Delaney’s hands fisted in his thick hair, pulling and tugging. It undoubtedly showed him the insta-heat burning her up inside as much as the way her leg wrapped around his calf.

She wanted more.

His tongue teased at the seam of her lips, and Delaney opened for him like they’d already done this dance a hundred times. She tasted the sweetness lingering from his drink. Desire rocketed through her, turning her nerves to lava. From the way his penis had hardened to pure steel against her belly, Kellan felt the same.

He streaked the backs of his knuckles down the undersides of her raised arms. Kept going to just lightly brush them along the sides of her breasts, her ribs, the flare of her hips to finally land on the curve of her ass.

Kellan dug his fingers in and lifted. Just high enough to press her center against his penis. Instantly, she got on board with the position, rocking against him even as her tongue twined and teased.

It was impossible to stop the little, breathy moans that kept escaping from her. It was impossible not to undulate against his rock hard abs and dig her fingers into the sculpted muscles of his back. Kissing Kellan wasn’t foreplay. It was a sex act all by itself. Utterly satisfying even as it drove her hunger up immeasurably.

And while Delaney would’ve sworn it was impossible, he was a million times better in reality than all the ways she’d fantasized being with him over the past months. Kellan ripped his mouth away to burn a trail of kisses down the side of her neck.

A semi rolled by, and the driver honked for a long time. It had been easy to ignore the white noise of the cars passing, but the horn broke through to Delaney. It reminded her they were on the edge of a green-scummed pond, across from a strip mall. The world could see them making out. And they’d already shot way past a reasonable stopping point.

So she unwound her leg and put her foot back down on the ground. Kellan seemed to get the signal. He dialed back the intensity on his kisses and rained them up the side of her face, down her nose, to end with a light peck on her mouth before easing back. Then he moved his hands to her shoulders.

It took a moment for her eyes to re-open. When they did, it took another moment before Delaney fully focused on him.

“Not only can we kiss,” Kellan said with enough authority to make her realize he wouldn’t allow her to pretend this hadn’t happened. To pretend that she hadn’t just climbed him like a tree and responded with a fervor that matched his own. “We’re absolutely doing it again.”

Flirting With Fire...

Everyone knows that if you play with fire you’ll end up getting burned…

What happens when you attend a first responder’s bachelor auction with your best friends? Well, if your name is Madison Kelly like me, your friends end up bidding on a date for you with your high school crush.

That’s right. Even back when I was ‘Fatty Maddie’ to all my classmates, I had eyes for the quarterback of our football team. Not like I was the only one.

Mauro Bianco may fight fires for a living, but he still sets my heart ablaze. One look at the rugged, muscular man he’s turned into and I want to slide down his pole.

One date. That’s all I’m committed to. A few hours and I can tuck him back into that tattered old shoebox in my closet.

As always, the universe has other plans. I never would’ve predicted that in a matter of days he’d turn from my dream guy into my enemy.

iBooks | B & N | Kobo | Google Play

My brothers widen their stances, share a look of amusement and cock their eyebrows at me.

“Hate to break it to you, but Maddie didn’t bid on you. Lauren did.” Luca laughs while Cristian chuckles.

“I’m going out with a Madison and she didn’t go to our high school. Which reminds me.” I pull out my phone.

“Maddie is Madison, you idiot,” Luca says. “Her and Lauren were my year.”

“I went to high school with Madison?” I try to let her face come back to me, and though I can picture her bright blue eyes and long chestnut hair, nothing about her is familiar from high school.

“Yes, but she definitely wasn’t hanging out at the bonfires and football pep rallies.” Luca grabs his helmet off his bike. The only responsible thing I’ve seen him do in the last few years.

“Well, shit and she doesn’t even want to go out with me? Her friend bid on me?”

Luca straddles his bike with a grin. I look over to Cristian, but he’s putting his shirt back on and starts fiddling with his earbuds. They obviously think this conversation is over.

“Yeah, but we’re all in the same boat.” Cristian’s thumb moves over his phone screen. “Maddie’s awesome and I think you’ll have a good time with her.”

“She seemed pretty quiet and way too accommodating,” I say.

Luca kicks his stand up, letting the bike rock a little under him.

Cristian’s hands freeze on the screen of his phone. “And that’s bad?” he asks.

“I want a woman who knows what she wants. Has her own damn opinions. Doesn’t just agree with everything I say.”

Cristian peeks over his shoulder, a look of amusement that matches Luca’s. “You want a girl to come up and grab your nuts?”

“I want a girl who knows what her favorite food is, has an opinion about where she wants to go for dinner, likes whatever sports team she likes and doesn’t default to my favorites.” I stuff my hands into my pockets, digging out my keys for my truck.

“Well then, Maddie might not be the one. Like I said, she’s nice.” Cristian slaps me on the shoulder. “Treat her good though, okay?” He inserts one earbud.

“What do you think I’m going to do, leave her in Garfield Park?”

He puts his other earbud in. “That’s not even funny man. I have a friend in that district and the shit that goes down there...” He shakes his head.

Cristian loses the entire point of my statement—the fact I’m not a jackass. I’m not Luca.

“It’s one date,” I say. “And who knows, maybe she’s nice but still has a wild streak.”

Christian again glances over to Luca who’s smiling like he’s fucking Mickey Mouse.

“Well, good luck on your date,” he says.

Cristian jogs away and Luca’s bike starts up.

I head to my truck.

The conversation is over, but I’m curious now.

Where’s my damn yearbook?

Without Merit Review...

Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.

The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit.

Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix.

Fed up with the lies, Merit decides to shatter the happy family illusion that she’s never been a part of before leaving them behind for good. When her escape plan fails, Merit is forced to deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth and losing the one boy she loves.

REVIEW!!!!

This was a far cry from the books I've grown to love by Colleen Hoover.  That being said, I still loved it after I was able to get into it.  I struggled with this book at first because I couldn't figure out where things were going.

Merit Voss grew up in a church with secrets on everybody in her house.  Then she meets Sagan her twin sisters friend/boyfriend and things start to change for her.  Eventually she just kind of explodes and then when things get out of hand she attempts to end things.

This is an interesting take on people with depression and anxiety.  Once I figured out the story plot I really connected to the story.  It hit home and told the story about how I was feeling as well.  I was Merit for a years and this book pushed me to make a change.  So once again Colleen's book has pushed me to make the change that was needed while falling in love with another book.  Colleen is an amazing author who can make anybody bawl in public as they read her books.

I feel like this review doesn't really make sense but I can't put it any other way.  If you haven't read a Colleen Hoover book then you are missing out.  Yes some are better than others but they are all amazing.
