Profited...

One night. Let go. Be free.

Even at an early age, Reid Hunter’s future was already planned out. Though he was groomed to become successor of the family business, he quickly discovered his destiny wasn’t through his family’s legacy, but to build his own empire. His plan: takeover Vegas, one building at a time. Known as a hard, no-nonsense man, inside the boardroom and out, Reid isn’t prepared when he comes face to face with a woman from his past. The only one with the ability to make him question everything he stands for.

Raising a child is hard. Raising a child as a young, single mother is downright difficult. Yet Dani Whitley has managed to put herself through college, purchase her own home, and raise the unexpected, but greatly adored son she created while in college, after one night with a gorgeous stranger. Knowing nothing but his first name, Dani has managed to push all thought of Reid out of her mind until one day, nine years later, she is forced to face the man himself. Ruthless and callous, Reid Hunter is nothing like the young man she met at that music festival all those years ago. Yet Dani is still drawn to him, more than she was before.

Sin. Money. Success. Profits. That’s the foundation of Las Vegas. But what happens when one day you realize that it’s not enough? When the greatest thing you could profit is bigger and better than money: love.

EXCERPT!!

I’m lost in those steel gray eyes while we continue to ignore all conversation around us. When they announce that dinner is being served, we pull our eyes away from each other. A delicious smelling plate is placed before me, but my mind won’t calm down enough to even enjoy it. I keep thinking about those all-consuming, carnal eyes and the unspoken words they said to me. Like a deer in a field with a lone wolf, I know that my time is limited. I’m about to be devoured. Consumed.

And the food in front of me is the last thing on my mind.

“Eat,” he whispers against my ear. “You’re going to need your energy.”

I swear my sharp inhale can be felt by everyone in the room, and certainly heard. But when I look up, all conversations and dining around me seems to continue. Risking a quick glance over at Reid, I watch as he slowly moves a piece of steak towards his mouth. Using his teeth, he gently pulls the meat from his fork in the most erotic display of eating I’ve ever witnessed. My body shivers with anticipation as goose bumps pepper my heated skin. Reid does nothing to hide the smirk on his lips as he slowly chews his food.

I practically orgasm in my seat.

“Eat,” he whispers heatedly with a wink, that knowing smirk still plastered on his face.

REVIEW:

Holy crap was this book good.  I loved the intensity that I felt while reading this book.  Quinn has been running with and caring for her sister for so long that when she meets Andrew she has forgotten how to let other people take care of her.  She has been on the streets hiding from her past and keeping her sister safe with Bean's help.  Andrew sees Quinn and he knows she is different.  He wants to do everything in his power to save her and protect her but will she let him in to help her.  Will he be able to let her in as well?  Can Quinn figure out how to be a part of the world she ran away from again?  Will their secrets come out?  Can Quinn continue to protect her sister alone or will she finally let Andrew help her?

You have so many questions as this book moves forward that you can't stop reading.  I hated every time that I had to put this book down because it meant I spent hours and hours thinking about what I thought would happen next in this book.  There are very few authors I can say that about and I absolutely love when I feel that way.  I will definitely be looking for more by this author in the future.

This book had amazing characters and a unique plot.  I can honestly say that I have never read a book with a plot like this one.  I was left guessing at every twist and turn.  I would love to delve deeper into Andrew's company in the warehouse.  I was surprised when Quinn actually told Andrew why they ran.  I was left without any questions and it is definitely an HEA ending.  Can't wait to read more.

Slow Grind Review...

Only the good died young. It’s a phrase I wish never existed.

Best mates shouldn’t get cancer, especially terminal at twenty-seven. And experimental treatments shouldn’t cost a hundred grand. But sometimes life just fucking sucked.

Then I got an idea to raise the cash. If a woman could strip her way through uni, we could strip our way to a cure, right? We were attractive Aussie guys, and with the help of Max’s kid sister, we could nail the choreography.

I hadn't seen Aubrey since she was twelve. She’d gone from a pig-tailed, freckled tomboy into the sexiest chick I think I'd ever met. I made a promise to Max to steer clear, but when she was choreographing our routines …

The Men of Mornington were going to heat things up, and things just got a whole lot hotter..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
REVIEW:
I have no words for this book it was that good!  However, definitely just left you hanging at the end.  I mean what happens?
Anyways, after Aubrey's parents divorce she moves to the states with her father.  However, her senior year of college right before graduation she is called back home to Australia because her brother is dying of cancer.  Going back however means dealing with her mother, reconnecting with old friends and dealing with her feelings for her brothers best friend Drew.  Drew and Max have been friends since they were little kids.  With the help of Aubrey, Drew and all of their other friends can they get Max into an experimental drug program?  Will Drew and Aubrey work things out and will Max give them the go ahead?  Will everything go as planned or will everything fall apart?
Now while I have heard of books with similar plot lines I have not read books with similar plot lines.  It is such a great story.  I enjoy the way the characters interact with each other.  I enjoyed the pace as well as the flow of this book.  Everything works well together in this book.  I could not put it down it was that good (it's been a while since I've read a book I absolutely couldn't put down).  However I almost threw my kindle across the camper when I finished the book.  I can't believe that is how it ended and that it ended so soon.  I am really hoping that there will be more books to follow this one because I have a ton of questions and absolutely no answers.  I am not a huge fan of cliff hangers or unanswered questions so sadly while it was an excellent book it is losing some points for that reason.
I can't wait to read more books about these characters and to find out what happens with Max.  I hope everything ends well for everybody.  I will definitely keep a look out for the next book.  I must have answers and I hope I don't have to wait long to receive them.
4.5 Aussie Stars
We changed.
I can feel the shift--the difference.
Stirrings.
Questions.
Yearnings.
What if I told him that what I need,
What I want,
Is him?
She's the sexiest woman I've ever known.
She's fiery, smart, and has my back.
She's been there for me through it all.
I can't imagine a second of my life without her,
Which is why Brooklyn Ames is my best friend.
The only woman I want,
And the only one I can't have.
But lately…
I'm starting to wonder...
What if I told her that all I want,
All I desire,
Is her?
Weekend 1 of my personal reading challenge...
So Friday night I realized that I have three books up for review this week and I had only made it half way (if that) through one of them.  So I set up a goal for myself to finish at least two of them this weekend.  The third one I would work through on my lunch breaks at work instead of a walk.
The weekend has been pretty busy so far.  I moved back in with my parents recently and since my room had been converted to a junk/craft room I was only able to bring about a weeks worth of clothing with me when I moved four weeks ago.  Yesterday the room was empty enough that I could bring my closet and clothing over.  So I spent the day clearing my stuff out of the camper where I have been sleeping (since they are leaving for camping on Saturday) and getting all of my clothes out of storage.  Today I will be finishing putting away and arranging clothing and rearranging the room so that my bed can come over soon.  Living at my parents house leaves me much less time to read than I desire so the reviews may be fewer than normal for the rest of this year.
However in lieu of all the craziness I am well on my way through my second book.  I finished the one I have been working on for weeks last night at around 2 am and got about two chapters into the next book before I crashed hard.  So I am around 20% into the second book of the weekend.  If I'm lucky I will be able to finish all three books and spend the week reading my library book and finishing the last 25% of the book I was reading before I realized I had review books I needed to read.
Anyways, here was my goal for this weekend:
His by Brenda Rothert (due Thursday) - finished
Slow Grind by Eva Spencer (due Tuesday) - at time of this post I am 22% into it
Profited by Lacey Black (due Thursday) - at this time I haven't started it
Also currently working through:
Chosen by Sarah Swan (on my kindle) - 83% in when I realized I had review books to read
Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers (hardback library book) - not even 50 pages in and I've had it almost 3 weeks
Needless to say I would love to finish the four books on my kindle and worry about the library book through out the week but we will just have to wait and see what happens the rest of this day.
From Titans...
Title: From Titans
Author: Mary Ting
Genre: YA Mythology
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:
Everyone is searching for Mason.
Zeus sent Hermes, and the Oracles have used their magic, with no success. A sparkle of hope arises when Eris, the goddess of Chaos, sends an invitation to her wedding engagement party. She’s holding Mason hostage, and Skylar and her friends only need permission to enter Eris’s world to rescue him.
At the party, Eris gives them one condition: In exchange for Mason, they must travel to the Land of Reverse and bring back the bottle of gold water King Midas used to wash himself free of his gift. Further chaos follows when Eris not only sets up a hunt in the Labyrinth of Crete, but makes a bargain with the Titans she rescued.
The Titans possess power more than anyone anticipated, and Cronus is hungry for revenge after his own children locked him up in Tartarus. No one is safe. Not even the humans.
Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children’s chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.
Nick sprang from behind and pounded on the invisible wall. “You crazy bitch! Let my brother go.”
Hades held him back. “You’ll have to excuse him. He’s been going a bit crazy looking for his brother. I’m sure you understand.”
Eris glared and hissed, showing her perfect white teeth. “Don’t be a fool, Nick, or you’ll never see your brother. But he’s not really your brother. Isn’t he just a half-brother? Anyway, I can’t wait to call you brother-in-law. We’ll become one happy family.” She showed off her white teeth but didn’t smile.
Nick covered his ears. “Over my dead body.”
“Now, now. Behave, little one,” she scolded, waving her finger. “Or I just might give you what you wish for. Death is permanent, you know…at least for your kind.”
Nick growled, and light shot from his fingertips. Everett held him back. When Zeus gestured with his hand, Nick stilled.
Zeus focused on Eris again. “Where’s Cronus? Tell him to show himself.” His calm tone sounded confident, but I knew he feared his father.
“Cronus isn’t here.”
“Liar!” Zeus sent the lightning from his staff. It flashed into the invisible wall and burst in brightness, blinding us, but it didn’t penetrate the wall.
Eris laughed, like Zeus had told the funniest joke. “I’m the goddess of my domain. You can’t hurt me here. I call the shots, Zeus. Funny how the roles are reversed. I kind of like that. But don’t worry. You’ll see him soon enough—or not. When I say so. So, would you like to come to my party, or are we going to argue all day?” Eris brushed the side of her hair, smirking. “It’s funny how Zeus is begging to come to my party. It was the other way around before.”
“I’m not begging,” Zeus growled, his eyes crackling with electricity. His rage shook the ground. “You’re forcing me to come. Get this over with before I do something I won’t regret. And to clarify: It wasn’t my wedding. I didn’t send out the invitations, but if I had, I wouldn’t have invited you anyway.”
Eris threw a daggered glare at Zeus and waved her hand. As the invisible wall started to disintegrate, a new world materialized.
The Time Historian...
Title: Time Historian
Author: Regina Morris
Genre: Time Travel Fantasy
Hosted by: Lady Amber's PR
Blurb:
Hank's job at the Historical Preservation Agency is to send recorders back to President Lincoln's time to preserve the actual events of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. An unforeseen problem arises and within an instant he finds himself living in the Confederate States of America, Lincoln was convicted as a war criminal, and slavery existed for another fifty years. More personally distressing, in the new timeline Hank's wife dies as a child. He never meets her and their three children are never born. He travels to the past to right what went wrong, but is up for the task?
“Did this mystery surge affect the timeline?” Hank asked.
“Doubtful. But something did change history. I compared the history database to the new timeline.” James pointed to the computer screen projected above his desk. “This,” he suggested, referring to the top portion of the screen, “is our original history. The bottom chart is the new history.”
“They’re so different,” Hank noted.
Caleb leaned in and adjusted his glasses. “These charts represent how many years?”
“I checked elections, dates, wars... any significant historical event and ran across two-thousand major differences within the first fifty years.”
“These graphs show only fifty years of differences?” Santiago’s eyes grew wide, and she stared at the group. “I’m married with two children.” Hank heard her voice cracking. “How bad is this?”
“After the recorder went back, the first historical difference is the Emancipation Proclamation. The directive did not go into effect on Jan 1st, 1863, and the thirteenth amendment abolishing slavery remained unratified until the 1930s, which made it the twentieth amendment.” James stared grimly at the group. “Slavery remained legal until then. This caused many of the northern states to secede and join Canada.”
“Oh my God.” Hank wrung his hands. His late wife had been African-American. Caleb was also African-American. “How could the United States allow slavery to continue for so long.”
“Not the United States. We now live in the Confederate States of America. The South won and convicted Lincoln as a war criminal.”
Hank couldn’t believe his ears. Lincoln was a personal hero of his. How could such a fate belong to him?
“The American people loved Lincoln,” Aaron argued.
James shook his head. “Not everyone. His murder occurred a few weeks after his conviction.”
No way. Hank needed to take a seat. How could this have happened? The device they sent back was only a little recorder.
“We need to isolate the event that caused the rift.” Caleb pointed at the timeline displayed on James’s computer. “Did you pinpoint the catalyst?”
“It proved difficult to track down, but I’ve isolated the one event. A murder occurred in the White House immediately after the recorder arrived in 1862.”
“No one has ever been murdered in the White House,” Hank said.
“True. But this,” James said as his hands gestured around the room, “this is now Preston Hall. This isn’t the capitol.”
“Who was murdered?” Santiago asked.
“An African-American maid. Her death is the start of all the changes.”
“Okay.” Caleb glanced around the room at all the equipment, then he took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “There’s only one thing to do. Hank needs to go back in time and save her.”
