REVIEW!!!

This book is the conclusion of the series and boy is it EPIC!  So we know from the first and second books that Lindsay was raped at a party while her boyfriend Drew was forced to watch.  We also know that not only does she aim to get revenge but the men who ruined her life all those years ago want her dead.  In this book we learn that Lindsay gets her revenge in the end.  But does she lose everything in the process?  Will she make it past the torment that she endures?  Will she and Drew end up together in the long run?

 

I thought the first two books were good but this one blew me away!  Everything falls into place and we learn so much more about these characters.  The flow and pace are amazing.  The plot is just wow.  This series has given me yet another new author to follow.  I love Meli’s writing style and story telling skills.

 

If you have not read these books then you absolutely should.  If you don’t I personally think you would be missing out!

REVIEW!!!

This is an enchanting book that is kind of a mix of fairy tales meshed together.    You have a little bit of Beauty & the Beast, some Red Riding Hood and many other magical creatures and tales.  If you like retellings you will love Yeva’s story!

 

Yeva is the youngest of three girls, the favorite of her father and mother to her two sisters.  When her father loses everything he moves the family to his old hunting camp.  When he disappears Yeva goes in search of him, leaving her sisters in the care of a friend.  That is when she meets the Beast.  The Beast trains her in the art of hunting and tracking.  He shows her a completely different world and she soaks it all up.

 

I absolutely adored this book!  It was a unique and fun retelling.  The authors writing style was amazing.  This author has written a book that I couldn’t stop reading/listening to it.  I loved the characters and watching them grow together as a whole.  I adored the plot.  There were a few spots where I thought things got a bit off with the flow and the pace, but it didn’t truly affect the book for me.  I will definitely be looking for more books by this author soon.

Cain’s phone begins to buzz on the table. The screen lights up, and the short name on the screen makes me have to fight a frown.

I know it’s Nina. It always is. It’s like she has a Brooke-dar. She can sense whenever Cain and I are alone and hanging out.

My heart sinks, slowly but heavily, and I school my expression into one of not caring. I refuse to look away from the TV now.

Cain hands me his pizza box, which I take, begrudgingly, then he leans forward and grabs his phone. He waits for the buzzing to stop, then unlocks it and turns it off vibrate.

Then? Then he shoves it under the table, screen down.

Ho. Lee. Shit.

I gape at him. I can’t help it.

A piece of pepperoni drops off the slice of pizza in my hand—the same one that’s frozen halfway to my mouth as I stare at him in total disbelief. Did he really just do it?

“What?” Cain shrugs and takes his box back, grabbing a piece of half-eaten, meaty pizza and shoving the end in his mouth. The crust crunches as he bites down.

I swallow and glance at the coffee table. “I don’t think you’ve ever not taken a call from her.” I can’t help the derogatory way I say ’her’. It’s not intentional—honest. It’s ingrained in me to be vicious to other women. I think it’s a female thing. Self-preservation and all that.

“I don’t think I ever haven’t either.” Cain tilts his head to the side and meets my gaze, a suspicious glint in his green eyes. “But the point is, we haven’t done this in weeks, and I’m having too much fun to leave. Besides, we have all this junk food. If I don’t help you eat it, you’ll eat it all, then it’ll be my fault when your pants don’t fit.”

Oh my god.

“Does she know you’re here?” I smirk slyly and raise my eyebrows.

He shifts uncomfortably. With a cough, he puts his pizza down and grabs his beer bottle to swig from it.

Oh. My. Shitty. Life.

“She doesn’t, does she?” I sit up straight, throwing my half-slice back into my box and shoving his shoulder. “Cain!”

“No,” he mumbles, scratching the back of his ear. “She doesn’t know.”

I laugh. I can’t help it. It’s totally immature of me to delight in the fact he hasn’t told the Prissy Princess where is he and he’s ignoring her calls, but I do. It’s hilarious.

And, okay. I’m smug. Totally smug. There’s only one reason he hasn’t told her, and that’s because she hates me too.

Bitchy Best Friend Mission: Level Up!

“And tell me.” I snicker, just about holding back the volcano of laughter threatening to erupt. “Where does Nina think you are?”

“She thinks I’m at Mom’s.” He looks at me, his lips flattening into a thin line. “Stop laughing, B. No, don’t shake your damn head. I fucking mean it. She’s a little insecure over my friendship with you and Carly, that’s all. Sometimes it’s easier to just tell a... little white lie.”

“A little white lie? She thinks you’re at your mom’s!” I laugh harder and wipe at my eyes because they feel a little too wet.

“I just want the best of both worlds right now, all right?”

“What is the best of both worlds? Pizza with me and blow jobs from her?”

“She chooses not to eat gluten. Until she finds a gluten-free recipe she likes, I can’t eat pizza when she’s around.”

Which is a lot.

I raise my eyebrows again. “Your girlfriend won’t eat gluten but she’ll happily put your dick in her mouth?”

“Brooke. Don’t be a bitch.” He chucks a piece of chicken from his pizza at me, his eyes narrowing.

I’m dying. I think this is it—this is how I die, laughing at Cain’s lame excuses for lying to his girlfriend about spending time with me.

“Oh my fuck. This is hilarious. Seriously. Someone call Comedy Central.”

“Brooke.” He says my name again, this time quieter.

I stop laughing. Just about.

“I’m sorry. I just think it’s funny. You want me to be nice to her but you lie to her about spending time with me.” I shrug a shoulder and peel a piece of pepperoni off my pizza. I’m not even that hungry anymore.

He sighs, putting the top down on his box, and sits back. “She thinks there’s something going on between us.”

I laugh even harder because I might cry if I don’t.

Hi, breaking heart. Grab the tissues, yo.

There’s an awkward silence hanging between us now. It’s not the first time someone has thought that, but given that the more time I spend with Cain, the more I seem to fall for him, it’s awkward. Especially since he’s lying to her just to hang out with me.

I clear my throat and look up at him. “That’s ridiculous. You’re my best friend. Like anything would ever happen between us. I can’t put up with your shit taste in music, for a start.”

“Exactly,” he replies in a quieter voice, scratching behind his ear again. “It’s fucking stupid. I can’t stand your taste in music either. Who the fuck likes Justin Bieber?”

“People who think Kanye West should retire.”

REVIEW:

Welcome to my life!  Brooke is me.  As I am reading this book I am literally sitting there picturing myself as the main character.  There were a few things that have not actually happened in my life but for the most part every single thing in this book has happened to me or is currently happening to me.  I actually had to stop reading for a while because it was just too much.

 

Needless to say I loved the story.  I loved the characters.  I have yet to find an Emma Hart book that I don’t enjoy though.  She is among my favorite authors since I read my first book by her.  However, I have to say that while I enjoyed the book I did have a little issue with the pace.  It just seemed to go slower than the books she usually writes.  All in all it is well worth the read and I can’t wait to another one of her books soon.

There was just something about a woman in jeans. In fact, he had a particular pair of jeans on his mind. Exclusive Excerpt:

TROY DILLINGER

If sexual tension were tangible, I think it would spark electric blue, and right now it would be visibly igniting between me and Julia.

I’ve come to the conclusion that being alone with Julia is dangerous in the best way.

She perches her hands on her knees, leaning into her arms as she lets out a quiet sigh, getting closer to me. Her eyes just as entranced as mine.

Her breath smells overly sweet, beckoning me, and I can’t tell if I’m making it all up in my head. I lick my lips just in case.

I wonder how much time I have before we arrive at her building or mine. I’m not ready for the night to end, not now, not that I have her to myself.

However, I’m not going to be able to contain myself if she keeps egging me on like this.

She’s been toying with me all night.

“Are you going to kiss me, Troy?”

My heart leaps into my throat. At this point, I’m highly considering I’m way more buzzed than I previously thought. I rub my thumbs and fingertips together, aching to touch her but in limbo with myself.

“Excuse me?”

She releases a sexy, frustrated breath of air, and then turns to the look out the window. “Never mind.”

What?

“Julia.”

She whips her head to look at me. Catching her in my stare, she runs a nervous hand through her long hair. This time I clench my fists. It’s as if her buzz is fighting her nerves too.

“Troy,” she retorts.

Everything is always a damn game. I try to get a grip, and pick my confidence back up off the floor.

“Do you want me to kiss you?” I ask.

Her teeth come down on that plump bottom lip, but her eyes squint as they examine my face among the passing shadows of the street lamps.

Shocking me, as if distracted by something she leans in close, and I hold my breath when her slender hand comes up to my face. Her fingertips graze over my chin, sliding over the skin below my lips. She’s so close and the whole change in direction throws me.

“You’re really dangerous, you know that?” she says.

I’m intrigued. If she’s fishing for something, she’s most definitely going to catch something.

I know this is the booze talking, and I’m right there with her. I know wrong from right, but I don’t care.

“Don’t you think I should be telling you that? Sometimes I wish you could go back to doing things I despise so I can hate you again.”

She smiles. It’s her hum that follows that feels goading.

With everything and nothing to lose all at once, I throw caution to the wind.

I lean in just that little bit. My body is hungry, but the slow press of my lips to hers is so much more than lustful determination. Even I’m a bit shocked by it, but the sensual calm doesn’t last for long.

Her humid gasp against my mouth causes my blood to ignite at my lips, like catching a wick of dynamite, and I swear it burns a trail right into my core, exploding and rocketing outward. That is when I lose control.

Her mouth acclimates to mine quickly and I smile against her lips as a similar hunger reveals itself through every lapping stroke. Her hands tangle themselves into my hair, anchoring my lips to hers, allowing my own to slide down to her delicate hips, my nails digging into the thin fabric.

I want her. All of her.

I pull her toward me, our bodies curving around each other.

Her lips are softer than I imagined and she tastes of sweet champagne and sin.

She takes my bottom lip, sucking on it as her fingertips trail down my neck, and smooth over my shoulders.

I can’t contain my groan. Kissing her feels like winning the lottery.

I move to kiss a trail up her delicate jaw. She throws her head back, giving me full access to her beautiful skin. I nibble on her earlobe before dragging my tongue and peppering kisses over her neck, while my hand slides down to the smooth skin of her thighs. How often have I daydreamed of doing just this? Her soft moan has my heart working in overdrive.

Nothing else matters. Only her. Only this dammed forbidden moment.

My dick hardens inside my pants, aching for her.

There’s a moment when the car slows and our eyes flicker open, pausing. She’s nearly in my lap, and I won’t let her go.

In the patchy darkness we both notice we’ve arrived at my building first.

Our rushed breathes collide with each other as my lips brush lightly over hers, begging for more.

“Are you coming or going, Julia?”

There I said it, and I still won’t let her go. One hand is still firmly on her hip, aching for the skin beneath her dress, and the other inching slowly back up her thigh. My hands reflexively refuse to give up, but I’m giving her an out. She has every right to take it.

She doesn’t take a second to think, or maybe she does. I can’t tell if her decision is a thoughtful one as she replies, “Coming.”
