“You should take the first swing.” Reese lifted the black strap of the clear goggles over her hair and the back of her head. She secured them over her face until the plastic curve rested on the bridge of her nose. “Isn’t it good luck or something? This way, you only have yourself to blame if you regret doing the damage.”

Reese bit her lip as she attempted to get a good hold on the rubberized grip over the wooden handle. Once she was comfortable with her grasp, she lifted the heavy weapon and swung for the fences. Her laugh reverberated throughout the empty house as her first try resulted in only a tiny dent.

“You can swing harder than that,” Noah encouraged, laughing with her.

Her next strike cracked the drywall.

“You’re right,” Reese said rather breathlessly with a radiant smile. “This is very therapeutic.”

Another blow of the sledgehammer had a piece of drywall falling to the floor, but her swing was off by a half foot or more. The angle of the head had made a rather deep hole.

“You’re lucky I don’t charge for…” Noah raised a hand to stop Reese from swinging the sledge hammer once more. He stepped closer to the portion of the wall she’d opened without meaning to, wondering what the hell was inside the partition. It looked to be some type of heavy construction plastic wrap. “Wait. Hold up for just a second.”

Noah grabbed part of the drywall and pulled it away, hoping to clear whatever was inside out of Reese’s way so that she could keep working.

“Noah, is that what I think it is?”

The sledge hammer hit the floor with a thud at the exact moment Noah took a step back at the realization of what was in front of them. Both he and Reese stood side by side as they stared in horror at a secret this house had held for twelve years.

“We need to call the sheriff. Right now.”

Noah reached into the front pocket of his jeans and pulled out his phone, blinking one more time in hopes that the grisly scene in front of him disappeared. That wasn’t going to happen.

"This is serious, Poppy. Will you promise?"

"What am I promising?" This man had a way of getting me to say things, to feel things, to admit things that I might not have otherwise. Beers, Lies and Alibis Review...

The Warblers Point series is back and it’s not all beers and Irish accents this time, revenge is being sought after and Murphy and Sophie won’t give up until they’re back on top. 

After the embarrassing display of Liam and Finn fighting over NOT wanting Sophie in her front yard, the gossip vine has made her to look like the town tramp which she isn’t and it has not only affected her social life but her business life as well and she only has the O’Leary boys to thank for it. 

Murphy Ryan, hunky Irishman of Warblers Point, can’t stand the fact that he lost his girl to pretty boy Booker James, aka The Sheila. After Murphy lost Fiona, he realized he wants her back in his life because he believes they belong together. He will do whatever it takes to make sure Fiona is back in his arms and as far away from the California boy as possible. 

Watch how Murphy and Sophie take it upon themselves to not only seek revenge but get what they want at any cost, no matter who they hurt. The lives, relationships and sanity of the O’Leary family are tested, questioned and pushed to the brink in the second book of the Warblers Point Series: Beers, Lies and Alibis.

REVIEW!!!

This was an interesting conclusion to this duology.  

Murphy and Sophie have planned and set up their revenge to get the O'Leary's back in their lives.  But in the process they push them further away.  Fiona is struggling with life in California away from her family and getting used to life in the limelight with Booker.  Booker is trying to make things better for Fiona.  Liam is trying to fix his marriage and Finn is trying to win Booker's sister back.  But most importantly the patriarch of the O'Leary family is in the hospital.  With all this going on who will make it through and who won't?  Do Murphy and Sophie get their revenge or do they fail?

I struggled with this book even more than I struggled through the first one.  However, I enjoyed the characters and I had to know what happened to them in the end.  So I pushed through.  There was a lot going on and way too many main characters to follow.  I feel like this book should have been written in three parts or maybe four.  I feel like it would be better if there was a book about Fiona and Booker, one about Liam and his relationship and another about Finn and his relationship.  Possibly a book about the fourth brother (Brandon?) and his menagerie of relationship.  Meshing them all together made the book extremely hard to follow and screwed with the flow.

I love Meghan Quinn but these books were found slightly lacking for me.  I will not let that stop me from continuing to read her books.  I look forward to reading more books soon, preferably her Rom Com's.

Someone pounded on the door behind me, causing me to jump and squeal in surprise. I turned to look at the still-closed door, and knew who I’d find on the other side.

I wiped my cheeks, put on a brave face, and opened the door.

REVIEW!!!!

This book was full of crazy things.  But what is a Stephanie Plum book without a little crazy or a lot of crazy in this case.

In this book Stephanie isn't contending with her usual two hotties (Morelli and Ranger) but a third one as well.  The stakes are higher as she makes a few bets and now she has to start paying up.  There is the usual car havoc as well.  I don't think I've read a single one of these where she hasn't completely destroyed every car (except Big Blue) she drives.  Throw in Lula, Grandma Mazur, the FTE's and zombie's (yes I said zombie's) to make this book one of the best ones in the series for me.

I have read each one of these books and I have loved every one of them.  I wait for November to come every year so that I can buy the next one in the series.  These characters and this community of crazy people are a home away from home for me.  I look forward to  meeting these people again every year.  The book flows extremely well and while I feel like it was over way too fast it was paced perfectly.  The book felt like it ended on a cliff hanger though.  I don't usually feel like that with a Stephanie Plum book so this was new for me and I don't like it.

If you have not read a Stephanie Plum book then I would highly recommend it.  They can each be read as a stand alone (I didn't read the first 20 in order at all).  One day I will get the chance to read some of Janet's other books and I look forward meeting other characters in other worlds that she creates.

She’s got it stuck in her pretty little head that I don’t want strings.” He shows no reaction to the fact that I just shared that Azalea and I have been sleeping together. Odd. Shaking my head, I grunt in annoyance. “Girl’s got it wrong. I want more than strings. I want chains.”

“Hmm.”

Here we go. “Hmm what, Simon?”

“Well, and this is just a thought, but have you ever actually told her you want more?”

“I mean, I guess?”

“You don’t sound so sure. You either have or you haven’t.”

“I’ve told her we were a long time coming and that I’ve always wanted her, and just today, I told her how good we are together. So, yeah, I’ve told her.” My voice comes out strong and confident. Too bad Simon’s about to crush that confidence like a tin can.

“You’re an idiot. That’s not telling her how you feel. That’s telling her you like the way she makes you feel, if you catch my drift.” Judging from the confused look on my face, Simon can see, clearly, that I’m not catching his drift. “Dude, you basically made it sound like you enjoy fucking her.”

Is he right? I mean, I do, but . . . “Aw, hell.” Yeah, he’s totally right. “I’m such an asshole.”

“Don’t you laugh.” Her eyes narrowed to slits, her hands back on her hips.

This woman, she was so angry at him. She was practically vibrating with it. And, God help him, Tristan wanted to laugh. She was fierce and so fucking adorable, glaring up at him like he didn’t have a foot and a half and at least one hundred pounds on her.

“You’re an ass,” Tessa muttered, the sweet curve of her mouth distracting him. He didn’t anticipate her attack. Then it was too late.

With his arm raised, Tristan’s side was exposed and the woman, God bless her, used it to her advantage. She tickled him.

Fucking tickled him.

Tristan swallowed a shout when her tiny fingers dug into his side, his brain torn between yanking away and preventing the slice of cake from falling on her gorgeous head. Though if the tingling in his dick was any indication, he was enjoying her surprise attack way more than he should.

“Jesus,” he wheezed, trying to wiggle away without dropping the cake. “Stop. Stop!”

She did the opposite. As Tristan moved, the infuriating creature found an unprotected stretch on his other side, both of her hands digging into him just above the waist. Tristan was writhing between her tenacious grip and didn’t know what to do first.

He could throw the cake down and easily haul her away, her tenacity no match for his strength.

He could threaten her. He could try to fire her, this scowling, astonishing woman who had no idea she was attacking her temporary boss.

He could laugh. Which, if his body had any say in the matter, was what was about to happen. Which was insane. Because it never happened.

It began as a rattle in the back of his throat, a rumble that felt unfamiliar but not unwelcome.

Tristan’s head tilted back as he gave in to the sensation, his chest expanding, his lungs working overtime as a rusty chuckle broke free. It was rough, scratchy. Not a charming sound. But it didn’t stop. Tristan felt the foreign curve of a real smile on his lips, his mouth opening wider, a burst of laughter sneaking past.

It was loud, unexpected, and startled Tessa enough that she stopped. Her fingers gripped the sides of his shirt, unmoving. She stared up at him in shock.

“Oh my God.” She released him and stepped back, a hand flying up to cover her mouth. “I’m so sorry. Christ!” Her hand shifted to cover her eyes. “I am so, so sorry.”

Tristan caught his breath and placed the abandoned cake on the counter before smoothing his shirt down. He took a small step forward and bent his knees so he was more level with her face.

“I deserved it.”

“No,” she mumbled, eyes still covered.

“Yes. It was an interesting strategy, I’ll give you that. But a tactical success all the same.”

Tessa relaxed her fingers just enough so she could peek through the gap. “Really?”

“Really,” Tristan confirmed. “I’ll definitely think twice before stealing your food again.”
