Playing Hooky Review...

A witch, a wolf man, a murderous love potion … Who knew playing a little hooky could be so dangerous?

Emma is that spunky girl-next-door who loves adventure and finding trouble, but life at the University of Alaska Anchorage leaves no room for fun.

It's Valentine’s Day and her 21st birthday. Just another college day - full of classes and more homework than is humanly possible.

… until Jason, her best-friend-since-kindergarten, shows up to take her out for the day. It never hurt to play a little hooky, right? Like old times: the two of them on a fun adventure, an escape from real life.

But Jason's plans aren't anything she expected. Taking Emma to a paranormal circus, he introduces her to a world full of misfits and monsters – unicorns and faeries, dwarves and elves, and other paranormal creatures – and Emma falls in love with everything she experiences.

When they discover the empty siren’s cage, the mystery takes them through the paranormal underbelly of Anchorage – a witch’s bookstore, an ogre’s bar, and a deserted warehouse – but the siren’s kidnapper isn’t giving up without a fight.

Emma’s birthday adventure turns into a deadly battle for their lives. Will Jason finally tell her he loves her before the end? Or can he protect her from this world he’s inextricably a part of?

Here’s your ticket to the Circus: full of mystery and adventure, monsters and mayhem, with a little touch of romance and loads of fun. Don’t forget to buckle up until the ride comes to a complete stop.

REVIEW!

Emma turned 21 today and her best friend and crush Jason is taking her out for the day.  Jason is about to show Emma a huge and secret part of his life.  Jason isn't human and the two of them end up searching for a missing siren and the maker of a love spell.  Can they overcome the obstacles in front of them?  Can they save the siren?  Can they survive?

Wow, I'm at a loss for words with this book.  I enjoyed it immensely and couldn't put it down.  What a unique plot and story line.  The characters were creative and dynamic.  I felt like the book ended too quickly.  The pace and flow worked well with the length of the book though.

I need to stop putting off reading books because I don't know how long I've even had this book and I just picked it up.  Loved everything about this book and I can't wait to read more of this series.  Loved the author as well.  So Freaking Good!
